Why is using diplomacy considered a cowardly action?
Diplomacy is and will always be a better alternative to war. Because at least during diplomacy people are speaking when that breaks down, then war has to be followed. But diplomacy is a better alternative, as all countries hate what wars to their countries, some of their leaders might not feel the same, but overall people hate what war does to a country? Whether towns being bombed, or civilians being called collateral damage, war is never pretty, nor in most cases is it necessary. It’s the 21st Century, the whole world has changed. The wars or petty squables between ations should be kept to the tables of conferences, not to battles.

Diplomacy isn’t cowardly, it’s the best way to prevent loss of life. True it doesn’t always work, but it isn’t cowardly.

I’m with NOYFB. Maybe I’m a cowardly pacifist but so what, I’m proud to not want to kill people just because they think different from me (although don’t get me talking about pedophiles) All wars are unnecessary and all Iraq and Afghanistan has done is fuel uprisings in terrorism activities anyway. Humans are selfish, greedy, violent. Wars make leaders feel powerful, they make profit and most people enjoy solving things with their fists, hence the world has difficulty with communication and understanding of each others cultures.

Diplomacy requires thought. Many of those who love war are incapable of this. Therefore war is their only option.

Plus of course war makes some people a lot of money – diplomacy merely saves money (and lives).
Mordent | Jan 09, 2010

It is only considered cowardly by those who don’t possess the mental acuity to solve their problems by means other than their fists.
Stephanie laughs at most of you | Jan 09, 2010

It IS cowardly when history has proven time and time again, that it simply emboldens certain cultures / philosophies / countries, and you continue to pursue a futile course, which ultimately puts the US in danger…

Ahmadinejad has made a laughing stock out of Obama, and by default, the US, as an example…
BKP | Jan 09, 2010

Diplomacy requires intelligence and humility. Two things that American leaders never seem to have.
NOYFB | Jan 09, 2010

Diplomacy only works if two parties negotiate in good faith.
Rulez | Jan 09, 2010

Only losers consider diplomacy to be cowardly.
By the third grade most people have figured out that being big, and bold, and brave, and tough only means you are at the bottom of the stack.
A few people never figure it out.
Use of force needs to be a last resort.

Why do people say Disney's animated movies lack diversity?
If you look at where the movies are set you notice something else. They are set in:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs = Germany
Pinocchio = Italy
Fantasia = Ambiguous
The "packaged" movies = Latin America
Dumbo = USA
Bambi = Austria
Cinderella = France
Alice in Wonderland = rural England
Peter Pan = London, England
Lady and the Tramp = USA
Sleeping Beauty = France
One Hundred and One Dalmatians = London, England
The Sword in the Stone = medieval England
The Jungle Book = India
The Aristocats = Paris, France (1910)
Robin Hood = Nottingham, England (~1100)
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh = England
The Rescuers = New York, USA (one of the characters is Hungarian)
The Fox and the Hound = Ambiguous
The Black Cauldron = Wales
The Great Mouse Detective = Victorian London (one of the characters is Scottish)
Oliver & Company = New York City, USA
The Little Mermaid = Denmark
The Rescuers Down Under = Australian outback
Beauty and the Beast = rural France
Aladdin = Arabia
The Lion King = southern Africa
Pocahontas = United Kingdom/Native American land
The Hunchback of Notre Dame = Paris, France (several of the characters are Romani (gypsies))
Hercules = Ancient Greece
Mulan = China
Tarzan = West Africa
Dinosaur = pre-historic setting of what is now Venezuela
The Emperor’s New Groove = Inca empire (now modern day Peru)
Atlantis: The Lost Empire = Island of Atlantis (characters who are Atlantean/American/French/Italian)
Lilo & Stitch = Hawaii
Treasure Planet = South-west England mid 18th century/Caribbean
Brother Bear = post Ice Age North America (some characters are Native Americans)
Home on the Range = American West
Chicken Little = Small-town America
Meet the Robinsons = America in the future
Bolt = Hollywood/New York City/Las Vegas

And the next one out is the Princess and the Frog which is set in New Orleans with African-American characters. But why are some people seriously saying Disney lacked diversity before this? Do they seriously believe that all whites are the same? Are they choosing to ignore other Disney movies with non-white characters?
@David: 0.0 I guess you’ve missed the storm that has come since the announcement of TPATF. ;D

Regarding ethnicity, I have no problems with Disney, but I have to admit that I’m not keen on the way they alter and change the original fairy tales and stories. I grew up with H.C. Andersen’s "The Little Mermaid" and the Disney version just feels wrong and in my opinion misrepresents the original fairy tale. Why even base the movie on the original story? Why not just write a new mermaid story with a happy end?

Who said they aren’t diverse?
David | Dec 11, 2009

Alice in Wonderland does not take place in England. It takes place in Wonderland. Peter Pan takes place in Neverland. Just sayin’.

What they mean is that all Disney movies use the same cliches and plot devices. They aren’t racially in- diverse, they’re cinematographically in- diverse.
Rob | Dec 11, 2009

Nobody said it wasn’t diverse. It’s just that they didn’t use a black person, and black people are a significant part of American History, yet we never used a black person.

Transporter, The (2002)

IMDB rating: 6.30

Plot: Ex-Special Forces operator Frank Martin (Jason Statham) lives what seems to be a quiet life along the French Mediterranean, hiring himself out as a mercenary “transporter” who moves goods – human or otherwise – from one place to another. No questions asked. Frank’s newest transport seems no different from the countless ones he’s done in the past. He has been hired by an American known only as “Wall Street” (see Rule Two) to make a delivery, but when Frank stops along route, he notices his “package” is moving. Violating his own personal rules, Frank looks inside the bag, finding its contents to be a beautiful, gagged woman.

What is up with this Sagittarius girl?
I know her from school, but we don’t talk much, or at all. she send me a friend request on myspace, I accepted, then after a few days she decided to block me. Did she add me just to spy on me? Are all Sagittarius girls this nosy????????

I don’t think all Sagg. girls are nosy, it’s probably just that girl. I know some people that would probably request a friend to look at their profile and then maybe delete them once they saw what they wanted, but for her to block you sounds a little immature to me. If it bothers you, why don’t you go up to her in school and ask her why she did that? All the Sagg. I know are very blunt and honest people. (my boyfriend and sister are both Sagg.)
Calgon take me away | Nov 23, 2009

It might also be that she accidentally hit the "block" button.
Sagittariuses are known to be clumsy.
…..I accidentally blocked my friend before, LOL. I was thinking, why hasn’t my friend messaged me in a few days?
